Paid Time Off :

Eligible employees begin accruing PTO on their date of hire. PTO combines vacation and sick leave, starting at 15 days per year for full-time employees. UMC also follows Washington State Sick Leave guidelines, providing one hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked.

Position Description

Starting Salary Range : $144,000 - $166,000; depending on experience

Location : Gresham, OR

Classification : Exempt

Must be eligible to work in the U.S. - Sponsorship not available

Position Overview :

Develop and manage mechanical construction projects through effective communication, client relations, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, subcontracts, and forecasting of costs and profitability.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop new business for the Company in line with the Company's strategy and long-term goals.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Project planning identifying resources and budgetary needs.
  • Develop conceptual estimates at an early stage in the project.
  • Consult with clients on the design of their facility - facilitate the design process throughout preconstruction, resulting in a budget-based design that meets the client's needs.
  • Accurately maintain and update the budget throughout preconstruction.
  • Ability to estimate jobs or coordinate the estimating process with others.
  • Communicate and turn over complete, detailed estimates to the construction team.
  • Perform construction feasibility studies on third-party designs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers.
  • Prepare project budgets.
  • Estimate, negotiate, and process change orders as well as incorporate into project financial software.
  • Track, forecast, and report labor hours and material costs through project financial software.
  • Buyout major equipment and subcontracts.
  • Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment / materials.
  • Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope, and specifications of project contract / subcontract.
  • Maintain and control documents in compliance with UMC Standards as well as contractual compliance.
  • Supervise Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Project Coordinators including monthly and annual coaching.
  • Host weekly project meetings with the team (primary office and field stakeholders).
  • Collaborate with field labor supervision to plan, organize and schedule project work including preparation of subcontract / contract integrated project schedule.
  • Review contract drawings, detail drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare fabrication shop work package including detail drawing review, material take off and buyout, and man-hour fabrication budget.
  • Effective communication with UMC engineering staff to ensure complete designs that convey clear scope and scope within project established budget.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with UMC Manufacturing (VCS and fabrication) to maintain a collaborative and supportive team approach.
  • Attend VCS and model coordination meetings.
  • Provide proactive, clear, and timely communication with team members.
  • Manage deadlines and push team to ensure timeliness of deliverables.
  • Ensure full compliance with UMC Safety Program on the jobsites.
  • Be professional and uphold UMC Core Values.
  • Regular attendance and promptness are considered part of each employee's essential job functions.
  • Position Requirements

  • Supervisory Responsibility :

  • Supervise Project Managers, Project Engineers, and General Superintendents.
  • Preferred Education and Experience :

  • A minimum of ten years' experience as a mechanical project manager.
  • Construction Management or Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering degree desired.
  • Required Licensing and Other Certifications :

  • Maintain a valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
