Summary
The Clinical Nurse Educator supports the professional growth and competency of nursing staff through education, training, and evaluation. The role focuses on instructional design, orientation, simulation-based learning, resuscitation education, and continuous improvement of clinical practice. The educator collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care and compliance with life support standards while fostering staff development and evidence-based practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Education & Training
- Conducts learning needs assessments for nursing staff.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates educational programs and trainings.
- Develops and delivers orientation for new employees; monitors progress and creates learning plans for improvement.
- Supports nurse residency programs through curriculum development using simulation, lectures, case studies, and virtual reality.
- Resuscitation Education
- Serves as a trainer and consultant for the Resuscitation Education Initiative (Redi) Program.
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor; monitors BLS and Advanced Life Support (ALS) compliance.
- Organizes, participates in, and evaluates mock codes and emergency response drills.
- Collaboration & Leadership
- Works with interdisciplinary teams to enhance emergency response and clinical education.
- Partners with leadership and unit managers to identify staff educational needs.
- Mentors and coaches entry-level nurses; fosters critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Practice Improvement
- Evaluates current nursing practices and formulates outcomes for patient care and organizational processes.
- Reviews and applies evidence-based research to propose practice and documentation improvements.
- Participates in competency assessments and evaluations for both current and new staff.
