Pay Rate: $98.00–$122.67/hr on W2
Travel: Up to 5% Domestic Travel

About the Role
Join a team where engineering truly matters! We are seeking an experienced
System Design Engineer specializing in
Storage and Data Management to support a Digital Engineering Services team in Long Beach, California.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in storage technologies, networking, and server configuration across both hardware and software environments. This role involves designing and implementing edge computing and storage solutions within a secure, globally distributed VPN infrastructure supporting advanced data analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and maintain edge computing and storage infrastructure across more than 20 global edge sites.
- Design and implement secure VPN connectivity between remote edge sites and centralized compute/storage environments.
- Manage and optimize enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, and object storage solutions.
- Configure and maintain Windows and Linux servers, networking infrastructure, and storage environments.
- Collaborate with geographically dispersed engineering teams to deploy and support distributed infrastructure.
- Support storage environments managing more than 200TB of annual binary data across multiple locations.
- Support locally developed software applications used for advanced data analytics.
- Develop automation scripts using Python and PowerShell.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Develop acquisition and spending plans for infrastructure growth and technology upgrades.
- Ensure data integrity, security, availability, and system performance.
- Troubleshoot complex storage, server, networking, and infrastructure issues.
- Provide after-hours support when required.
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- 9+ years of experience designing and maintaining secure, distributed enterprise environments consisting of 20+ locations.
- Experience with enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, and Object Storage.
- Strong networking knowledge including secure VPN implementations.
- Experience administering Windows and Linux server environments.
- Experience developing automation using Python and PowerShell.
- Experience with edge computing architectures and distributed storage systems.
- Experience developing infrastructure acquisition and spending plans.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to provide support outside normal business hours when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Storage certifications (SNIA, NetApp, EMC, etc.)
- Networking certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+, etc.)
- Additional scripting or automation experience.
- Cybersecurity knowledge for distributed environments.
- Experience leading geographically distributed technical teams.
- Experience supporting aerospace or large-scale data analytics environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
