Rivier University invites applicants for an Academic Support Consultant. Individual will work one-on-one with Rivier students to assist them with academic skills, assignments, and course content knowledge particularly in relation to math and science courses. The Academic Support Consultant will work with students in quantitative subjects during appointment and drop-in times, both in person and through virtual conferencing. This position is approximately 9 hours per week in person / on campus.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Meet with individual students who would like assistance with quantitative courses such as college algebra, Anatomy & Physiology, or others.
- Work with all levels of students during drop-in hours on learning strategies related to quantitative courses. In a typical student-directed tutorial, the consultant may :
- Evaluate student needs and determine appropriate area of focus for tutorial session.
- Respond to questions and provide resources to guide students toward self-sufficient learning.
- Assist the student in identifying strengths and overcoming difficulties in their approach to assignments.
- Move the student toward independence in assignments by fostering both competence and confidence.
- Related duties as assigned.
