Job description

Number Management Specialist

The Number Management Specialist plans, administers, and regulates telephone numbering resources for Tollfree & Vice Products. This role ensures regulatory compliance, maintains accurate numbering databases, and supports stakeholders in managing number-related services. Due to global support, work outside normal US business hours is required, with flexible scheduling options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Numbering Resource Management: Allocate, activate, and maintain numbering resources such as DID numbers, toll-free numbers, and short codes. Manage the inventory of assigned and available numbering resources in the internal database. Coordinate with regulatory bodies for new numbering resource requests and updates. Work directly with and coordinate porting activities with international carriers.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to telecommunications numbering regulations and standards. Submit periodic reports to regulatory authorities. Monitor industry developments and changes in numbering guidelines.
  • Database Maintenance: Update and maintain numbering databases, including accurate records of active, reserved, and disconnected numbers. Troubleshoot and resolve numbering-related discrepancies or issues. Reserving new numbers as well as porting of numbers in a global arena
  • Stakeholder Support: Provide technical support to internal teams (e.g., operations, customer service, provisioning) and external partners regarding numbering resources. Collaborate with product teams to support new service rollouts requiring numbering resources.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Generate reports on number utilization, allocation, and forecasting. Conduct audits to ensure efficient number utilization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams to improve number management tools and systems. Participate in industry working groups and meetings related to numbering and telecommunications policies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Flexible - requires out-of-hours work.
  • Effective communication with diverse nationalities and personnel levels.
  • Adaptable - quick to rearrange priorities as customer needs change.
  • Self-motivated - works with limited supervision.
  • Decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of number porting and call routing.
  • Highly organized - manages conflicting priorities successfully.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Project management experience.
  • Multilingual ability is a plus.

Education: Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience: 2-5 years of experience in telecommunications or numbering resource management.

Technical Knowledge: Understanding of telecom networks, numbering plans, and regulatory frameworks. Familiarity with systems like OSS
