From your PASSION to ours

The Industrial Food Safey and Quality Manager is responsible for the development, management, and control of a wide range of programs and activities that ensure product safety and quality at Lactalis US Yogurt (LUSY).

This position will interact with LUSY Industrial, R&D, Supply Chain, Plant Quality, Project Management and Marketing teams to drive continuous improvement to established KPIs and Act for Quality program initiatives.

From your EXPERTISE to ours

Key responsibilities for this position include :

Industrial Quality

  • Supports facilities in investigating product complaints including root cause analysis and corrective actions to meet CPM objectives.
  • Works with sites to plan and discuss regular performance reviews to review quality KPIs, address compliance concerns, discuss new projects and ensure that sites are effectively adhering to Lactalis standards, processes and specifications.
  • Ensures key KPs are tracked, reviewed and corrective action plans are established when KPIs are not met.
  • Review and support the sites with Food safety programs & culture to maintain compliance with principles of GFSI, HACCP & ISO.
  • Provides support to LUSY plants to develop and maintain an effective Environmental Monitoring Plan (EMP).
  • Performs regular internal audits to ensure compliance to Lactalis procedures and GSFI standards.
  • Provides support to validate CIP system.

Quality in Design

  • Takes ownership of new projects as it pertains to industrial quality to ensure PMO requirements are met.
  • Works with Industrial and Engineering teams to conduct a food safety design assessment for new projects, as needed.
  • Ensures industrial quality capex is identified and communicated.
  • Ensures finished goods have appropriate analytical criteria using industry and Groupe Lactalis standards.
  • Track and analyze finished product data and propose improvements to reduce product variability.

Laboratory Excellence

  • Works closely with the LUSA LAB Relays to implement Lactalis requirements.
  • Ensure laboratory practices are properly documented and employees are trained.
  • Provides support to create and maintain lab equipment calibration.

Organizational & Cross-Functional Support

  • Collaborate with cross functional team and Corporate Quality managers in the development and launch of new products and execute assigned tasks.
  • Provide support and information to any department of Lactalis US Yogurt : Logistics, QC and R&D, Finance, Marketing.
  • Support and develop other personnel in the operation of daily QC functions, product launches, retrofits, and any other activity concerning Industrial Quality Control.
  • Provide support to internal projects and continuous improvement of the food safety and quality management programs within our division and Lactalis USA.
  • Maintain a close partnership with the cross functional teams at LUSY, LHD and LAG.
  • Maintain a connection with Lactalis Group Quality Department to maintain and gain technical knowledge.
  • Work with other departments to achieve overall company objectives.
  • Alert senior management on major issues.
  • Travel up to 30% and be flexible to travel with short notice, as needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualified applicants will contribute the following :

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy, Food, Nutritional Sciences or Food Microbiology.
  • 7-10 years experience in quality assurance with a minimum of 5 years quality management experience within the dairy and food industry.

Experience in sanitation and manufacturing are a plus.

Well versed in PMO and FSSC 22000 and its related regulations, with 3 years experience managing PMO regulatory compliance in a dairy manufacturing facility preferred.

Skills / Abilities / Knowledge

  • Active involvement in the implementation of Quality and Food Safety Programs, HACCP, and employee training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specially Excell and Power Point.
  • Statistical process control experience.
  • Ability to think in a logical manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak in front of large groups a must.
  • Ability to take direction and work both independently and in a team environment.
