General Facilities Technician
Position Description
Pay Grade : Technician 3
Performs a wide variety of general building and grounds maintenance in and around campus facilities.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

- Performs semi-skilled or skilled general maintenance supporting all facilities maintenance functions
- Operates and maintains maintenance tools and equipment in compliance with established safety policies, procedures, applicable codes, and regulations
- Prioritizes and responds to customer requests and addresses concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Performs first tier troubleshooting of equipment including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
- Recommends and implements corrective action, repairs, and / or equipment replacement to Facilities Manager and Director of Facilities to resolve facilities issues
- Assists in the coordination and scheduling of external vendors and contractors conducting preventative maintenance or repairs;
assists with monitoring work provided by vendors; assists in the review of work to ensure it meets specifications, contractual obligations, and quality standards
Assists in the monitoring of inventory and provides feedback to Facilities Manager and Facilities Inventory Coordinator on future equipment and supply needs
Prepares and performs wall maintenance which includes but is not limited to sheetrock repair, sanding, and painting
Maintains mandatory department activity logs, records, work orders, and field reports
Facilitates furniture arrangement, repairs and function setup
Makes deliveries between buildings and campuses as needed
Assists with general interior and exterior maintenance repairs involving buildings, grounds, equipment and special events
Completes an annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Responds to after-hours emergencies, as directed by College leadership
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge of and skills with use of tools and materials for general building maintenance
Ability to view, diagnose, and repair a variety of systems and equipment
Ability to demonstrates excellent customer service skills
Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
Ability to meet deadlines consistently
Ability to utilize a computer and relevant software applications
Ability to demonstrate good organizational skills
Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
Requirements :
Five years experience in building maintenance
Valid driver’s license with approval required by the College’s Liability Insurance Carrier
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks
Preferences :
High School Diploma or equivalent
Specialized certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry or other building trades
