Duties

The Office of International Affairs (INA) at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has a unique opportunity available for a Management and Program Analyst (MPA) to support the newly established International Leadership Council (ILC), which is responsible for the coordiantion and integration of CBP's international strategy, partnerships, and engagements.

The selectee will aid in the establishment of a new framework for collaboration and engagement across CBP, with DHS, the interagency, and with foreign partners on topics of international interest.

The selectee will be exposed to a broad range of activities in the international domain, including strategy, planning, policy, and operations.

The selectee supports efforts within and on behalf of the INA Front Office and will work regularly with senior executives, managers, desk officers, and Attaches and other personnel posted overseas.

The primary objective of this position is to support the execution of activities for the ILC, which serves as an Executive forum to govern and coordinate international strategy, plans, programs, and activities across CBP.

This includes developing CBP's International Strategy; conducting assessments including researching, gathering data, developing criteria, and anaylzying inputs;

providing recommendations for leadership decision-making; and coordinating overseas resource and personnel requirements and priorities.

The selectee will have the opportunity to directly influence the work of the ILC and support CBP's international objectives and priorities.

Duties will include, but are not limited to :

  • Prepare high-quality materials for leadership, including briefing memos, issue papers, talking points, agendas, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Collaborate with operational components across CBP to develop, review, and evaluate
  • Compile information from different sources and synthesize for cohesive presentation.
  • Develop assessment tools and criteria.
  • Develop timelines and milestones for projects.
  • Track and monitor progress of multiple projects, including specific tasks and assignments, to ensure timely completion.

Qualifications

Qualifications required :

  • Ability to originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and / or studies within established timelines.

  • Report to the Ronald Reagan Building at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20004, approximately twice per week, or as mission needs require.
  • Potential for international travel, but not a requirement.

  • Complete the DHS Training Course 15 days prior to the arrival to the JDA.
  • Complete the DHS Joint Duty Assignment Progress Plan to include :
  • Phase 1 : Establish assignment objectives within the first 30 days of the JDA.
  • Phase 2 : Complete a self-assessment of the duties performed at the mid-point of the JDA.
  • Phase 3 : Complete a final review within the last 30 days of the JDA.
