Job Description : The Project Engineer / Architect will be responsible for performing a wide range of forensic investigations related to damage and deterioration of structures as well as condition assessment studies for property owners and managers, under the direction of senior staff.
The work includes evaluations of commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and municipal projects. Most investigations will include the production of a technical report.
Additionally, the Project Engineer / Architect will occasionally develop design drawings and technical specifications for the repair and restoration of the structures they investigate, under the guidance and direction of senior staff.
The position offers the opportunity for direct contact with clients, working both independently and as part of a team. Superior oral and written communication skills are a must.
Applicants must possess experience in or the desire to learn the evaluation of entire structures (from foundations to roofing) as well as the investigation of failures and building problems.
Position requires frequent local and occasional regional travel.ResponsibilitiesConducting investigations and assessments, typically under the guidance and direction of senior staff, in order to prepare accurate technical reports and repair documentsManaging multiple assignments concurrentlyPerform all aspects of repair design tasks and draftingAssist Project Managers and other senior staff with technical tasks as may be assignedDevelop technical specificationsTrain, mentor, and guide Staff Engineers and Interns as requested QualificationsMinimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or Architecture from an accredited engineering or architecture school;
Other degrees will be considered based on relevant experience2+ years’ experienceStrong team player with effective internal & external verbal and written communication skillsPrior design and / or investigation experience preferredExperience with AutoCAD and / or RevitExperience with MS Office applications Physical Requirements : Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 lbsAbility / willingness to climb ladders and scaffolding, work from heights, walk roofs, access crawl spaces and other areas of limited accessibilityComfortable working outdoors in all conditions.
