Job Description
EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division. HUGHES is a leading provider of satellite products and services that recently announced disruptive in-flight entertainment and connectivity solutions for airlines.

Responsibilities :
- Participate in discussions with stakeholders regarding requirements
- Participate in requirements analysis discussions, and formulate requirements
- Plan, organize, and implement day-to-day activities by working closely with developers, architects, and technical release managers
- Understand complex business and functional requirements and develop solutions using Google Cloud Platforms
- Manage and Track bug fixes in JIRA
- Assist in creating, executing and maintaining test scripts
- Support different teams (such as System Integration Team, User Acceptance Team and Production) at Hughes to support feature / functions in the SDLC process
- Gain working knowledge of Aero Program, which will enhance your effectiveness in this role
- Contribute to improving automation across various tasks in the End to End System / Application testing to enhance efficiency
Additional Qualifications / Responsibilities
Basic Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 5 total years of experience as a software engineer
- 2+ years of experience in Python Programming
- 2+ years of experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Services (Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Big Query, Kubernetes etc.)
- 2+ years of experience in Python, JavaScript, and other programming / scripting languages to develop solutions
Preferred Qualifications :
- Familiarity with DevOps and SRE practices
- Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines
- Understanding of AI / ML concepts and libraries
- Experience with Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of SQL, relational databases, and normalization principles
- Working knowledge of Enterprise level software systems
- Demonstrated understanding of algorithms, data structures, and data model
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be capable of working under general direction
- Knowledge of MQTT, PUPPET Tools
- Knowledge on Industry Standard IAM (like OKTA) for enterprise level software systems
- Experience with JIRA / Confluence
- Knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
