This individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Credit Union’s Compliance Management System (CMS) to ensure conformity and adherence with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

You will contribute to a positive culture and SMCU reputation by embracing teamwork and collaborations. Your customers will include Credit Union employees, management, attorneys, CUNA, MCUL, other financial institutions, federal and state examiners, auditors, and vendors.

You will be a subject matter expert regarding Credit Union policy, procedures, and other issues related to regulatory compliance.

This role has a hybrid work schedule. We are looking for candidates located near our Marlborough office as this role will require to commute to the office a minimum of three times per week.

Responsibilities Include

  • Lead execution of the annual Enterprise Risk Assessment; work with key stakeholders to prepare materials, support users, manage meetings, and prepare report for committees.
  • Assists the Information & Technology Department with Cybersecurity Risk Assessment. Assists Retail with Red Flags and Identity Theft Risk Assessment.

Responsible for review of any internal compliance risk assessments.

  • Responsible for handling, logging, and responding to all complaints which includes follow up actions if necessary.
  • Ensures all departments develop and / or revise appropriate practices, policies, and procedures to meet compliance requirements.

Responsible for review and any further revisions of compliance related policies and procedures. Completes periodic compliance reviews of various departments and programs to ensure compliance, taking proactive action as necessary.

  • Member of the Information Security Committee.
  • Responsible for review and any necessary revision of all disclosures and notices. Reviews compliance related letters to members.
  • Reviews and validates all marketing printed materials and electronic materials to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Member of the eForms Team involved in updating or revision of the credit union’s eForms which include Wolters Kluwer (WK) updates.
  • Participate as a member of the New Product Team to identify and provide input regarding applicable regulatory compliance impact and concerns including necessary creation or revision of disclosures and review of marketing materials.
  • Remains current on trends within the credit union industry. Review, analyze, interpret, and maintain a working knowledge of existing and pending legislation and rules that affect or may potentially affect the Credit Union.

Act as the primary point of contact for any new or revised rules or regulations and provide timely and accurate requirements with solution driven processes to implement requirements.

Develop and maintain compliance resources and disseminate relevant compliance resources to appropriate staff.

  • Monitor emerging risks, reviews key performance indicators / metrics, and industry trends to proactively identify and report on potential threats to the organization
  • Develop and maintain policy and documentation for ERM programs and relevant policies, procedures, and job aides.
  • Prepare reports to senior management and executive committees on risk programs results, unmitigated risks with strategies and efforts to address, and assists with regulatory examination preparation.
  • Remain knowledgeable about the enterprise risks areas across the bank, including areas of cross organizational risk and HR risk.
  • Provides support for special projects and initiatives as appropriate.
  • Manage and lead the compliance specialists

Requirements

  • BS in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Operational risk management, enterprise risk management, audit experience required, project management and banking experience preferred.
  • Able to manage and execute multiple complex projects within required timelines and expectations required.
  • Knowledge of banking operational processes and / or experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Ability to partner effectively across the organization and develop positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated conceptual thinking and analytical skills.
  • Inquisitive nature, resourcefulness, and ability to seek out information.
  • Ability to work independently in a continuously changing environment.
  • Energetic and positive outlook.
  • Advanced PC / system skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

The estimated salary range for this position is $106,000.00USD to $120,000.00USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, and experience.

In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
