Pacers Sports & Entertainment is looking for a Basketball Analytics Manager who will work with the Indiana Fever basketball department to organize basketball data, build visualization / software tools, and provide analytics insights and reporting. We are looking for someone that not only has strong data and analytical skills, but has the ability to stay organized, balance multiple projects, and communicate effectively. This individual must have strong computer skills and the ability to maintain confidential information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Analyze and create statistical reports on the Indiana Fever and their opponents.
- Develop and build visualization tools and reports to streamline the decision-making process for the front office and coaching staff.
- Remain on the cutting edge with current analytical and data visualization technologies and techniques, providing coaches and staff with clear, actionable feedback.
- Utilize the latest statistical and machine learning techniques to provide predictive analysis supporting free agency, trade scenarios and the draft.
- Communicate results and findings to the basketball operations staff through presentations, written reports, and other tools.
- Provide insight and reporting into utilizing player tracking data, including but not limited to the official WNBA tracking data partner (currently Second Spectrum) and other programs as needed.
- Integrate scouting, analytics and historical comparisons to sharpen roster construction strategy.
- Establish systems and processes that ensure analytics and video are a part of daily decision-making.
- Innovate across all aspects of basketball operations.
- Support the gathering of additional data for ad-hoc analysis as needed.
- Collaborate on team projects and work autonomously on individual projects as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and excellent attention to detail when working with data.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience working as a basketball data analyst at the collegiate or professional level is preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS :
Knowledge of R, Python, Excel, SQL, data mining, data visualization, and data entry.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and reports. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager, analytics personnel, and primary decision-makers.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to make independent decisions and exercise discretion and independent judgment.
