Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Azure Application Architect with a focus on backend development to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible as a Principal Application Architect, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable cloud based software solutions. You will also help lead the broader web development team in achieving short term and strategic goals.

Base Pay Range 134,000 - 191,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. Responsibilities

System Architecture:

• Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure backend architecture within the Azure framework
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the existing system architecture and propose improvements as needed.

Backend Development and Oversight:

• Review and suggest improvements and changes for all server-side code.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code for server-side logic, database interactions, and APIs.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.

Database Management and Oversight:

• Work with data science team to design and optimize database schemas for performance and reliability.
• Implement data storage solutions and ensure data security and integrity.

API Development:

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to enable seamless communication between the front end and backend.
• Ensure API performance, scalability, and security.

Performance Optimization:

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in the backend infrastructure.
• Work with DevOps to review infrastructure and performance changes.
• Implement caching strategies and other optimization techniques.
• Obtain and maintain a 99% or greater uptime while optimizing cost as a percentage of revenue.

Security:

• Work with Security Architect to implement and maintain security best practices for data protection and user authentication.
• Work with Security Architect to conduct regular security audits and address vulnerabilities promptly.

Collaboration and Leadership:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Q-SYS product architects, front-end developers, designers, and product managers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
• Work closely with and provide technical guidance and mentorship to design teams located internationally.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Backend Developer or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of server-side programming languages such as Node.js, Java, Golang, PHP, ASP.NET/C#, Python
• Experience with database management systems, both SQL and NoSQL.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies and integration methods.
• Strong understanding of system architecture and design principles.
• Knowledge of security best practices and implementation.
• Extensive experience with Azure cloud services and infrastructure
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
• Previous experience in a leadership or mentorship role.
• Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Computer Science or relevant experience
