Job description

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Seeking a strategic real estate finance leader that thrives in a fast-paced and high performing team environment. Oxford Companies is a leading, vertically integrated real estate investment firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Since its establishment in 1998, we have grown to a team of 100+ professionals dedicated to the acquisition, development, management, and disposition of real estate assets. With approximately $500 million in assets under management and a $500 million development pipeline, Oxford is at the forefront of mixed-use development in the region and is actively expanding its model into new markets. We are driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a focus on creating long-term value for our investors, partners, and communities.

About the Role

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of Oxford Companies' executive leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO. The CFO will be driving the firm's expansion by raising debt and equity capital, structuring complex financing arrangements, and partnering with leadership on investment decisions. This individual will oversee the Accounting, Asset Management, Legal, and Investment functions, ensuring strong financial oversight and execution across the deal lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's financial strategy, including planning, forecasting, and treasury management
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team on strategic planning and growth initiatives
  • Drive debt and equity capital raising efforts to support acquisitions and development
  • Build and maintain relationships with investors, lenders, and financial partners
  • Structure and negotiate complex financing arrangements and transactions
  • Evaluate acquisitions, dispositions, refinancing, and development opportunities
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting, tax compliance, and regulatory adherence, including oversight of external accounting partners and 1031 exchanges
  • Optimize cash flow, working capital, and balance sheet performance
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams in a culture of accountability and collaboration
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO, leadership team, and the Board
  • Represent the company with external stakeholders and the investor community

About You

The ideal candidate for this position has extensive expertise in real estate finance, complex deal structuring, raising equity and investor relations. You have a rare combination of strategic thinking, collaborative leadership, and relationship building skills.

Why Work for Us

  • Play key leadership role in a high-growth firm with a $1B+ combined AUM and development pipeline
  • Partner directly with the CEO to drive strategy and major investment decisions
  • Thrive in an environment that values innovation, ownership, and creativity
  • Lead critical initiatives in capital formation and financial strategy
  • Help expand a successful model into new markets and build top-tier investor relationships
  • Join a team committed to constant improvement, being respectful and accountable, exceeding expectations and really enjoying working together
