Cloud engineer Jobs in Los Angeles, CA

Our client is a leading global firm in the investment management industry and is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President – Cloud Engineer to help lead the design, governance, and evolution of its Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This hybrid role is based in Los Angeles, with three in-office days per week.

The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on technical expertise in Microsoft Azure , strong knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation, and observability , and a passion for building secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions. This role will work closely with architecture, security, and operations teams to deliver modern cloud infrastructure supporting global financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with cloud architects to implement modern Azure architectural patterns and standards.

Lead and support workload migrations from on-premises and legacy systems to Azure.

Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and integrate with CI / CD pipelines .

Automate provisioning, configuration, and policy enforcement to improve speed and consistency.

Support FinOps initiatives to optimize and monitor cloud costs.

Implement observability standards including logging, metrics, and tracing for Azure workloads.

Partner with security teams to maintain compliance with NIST, ISO 27001 , and internal governance frameworks.

Document engineering processes, develop reusable templates and playbooks, and promote knowledge sharing .

Qualifications

6–8 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience , with strong focus on Microsoft Azure .

Experience in financial services or other regulated industries preferred.

Proficiency in Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), and CI / CD tools .

Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity management, and security principles .

Familiarity with FinOps , cloud cost management tools , and observability platforms .

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Preferred certifications : Microsoft Certified : Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator , or equivalent.
