CNC Lathe Setup Machinist
Location: Costa Mesa, CA
Pay: $24.00–$30.00/hour
Job Type: Full-time
We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to join a busy machine shop in Costa Mesa. This position is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathe machines, completing first article inspections, and supporting production in a fast-paced shop environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Set up CNC lathe machines, including HAAS and Mazak equipment.
Run first article parts and make adjustments as needed.
Operate machines once setups are complete.
Troubleshoot machining issues and support production efficiency.
Work with live tooling and Y-axis machines.
Set up and run multiple machines per day.
Follow job travelers, instructions, and production requirements.
Use auto bar feeders and loaders in a production shop environment.
Maintain quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Previous CNC lathe setup experience required.
Experience with HAAS and Mazak lathes preferred.
Knowledge of live tooling and Y-axis machining.
Ability to work independently and follow directions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Experience in a production machine shop environment.
