Configuration & Infrastructure Network Engineer
Position Overview
The Configuration & Infrastructure Network Engineer provides technical expertise and on-site support for the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of low-voltage IT infrastructure systems within a School District environment. The contractor will supply qualified personnel with the technical expertise, leadership skills, and communication ability required to support district-wide network infrastructure projects.
The District intends to utilize the results of this solicitation to award work orders to responsive and responsible proposers capable of delivering skilled resources to support ongoing infrastructure and technology deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Installation & Configuration
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Networks (WLAN), VoIP systems, IP Public Address/Intercom systems, and IP Video Camera systems.
- Configure and deploy network switches, modules, interface cards, and related network infrastructure components.
- Install and configure IP converged system equipment across school sites and district facilities.
- Install Cat6e and Fiber patch cords and support structured cabling infrastructure.
- Install and support power equipment including UPS systems and step-down transformers.
Network Operations & Troubleshooting
- Analyze and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.
- Troubleshoot LAN equipment and infrastructure components.
- Rearrange and optimize network equipment installations to meet operational requirements.
Systems Design & Implementation Support
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments of school facilities.
- Develop Scopes of Work (SOW) for network and security infrastructure deployments.
- Create Bills of Material (BOM) for equipment and installation requirements.
- Review and evaluate IT system designs to ensure compliance with industry standards and district requirements.
Project & Documentation Support
- Accept and inventory equipment deliveries at district warehouse locations.
- Create and maintain asset tracking workbooks and system documentation.
- Generate status reports and project completion updates.
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports and documentation.
- Communicate project updates effectively via written reports and email communications.
Collaboration
- Work closely with School District IT teams, project managers, and external vendors.
- Maintain effective working relationships with district personnel and other stakeholders.
- Manage priorities and complete assignments within project timelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of experience installing and configuring low-voltage IT systems.
- Experience installing and supporting network infrastructure, security systems, and communication platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in enterprise networking environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technical teams.
Preferred Certifications & Technical Experience
Certifications
- Genetec Omnicast Certification
- Genetec Synergis Certification
- BICSI RCDD Certification
Technical Experience (Preferred)
At least one year of experience in one or more of the following technologies:
- Genetec Security Center 5.11 or newer
- Cisco or HPE Enterprise Network Configuration
- Cisco and Aruba Wireless Controllers
- Cisco VoIP and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
- Valcom IP Public Address Systems
- DMP (Digital Monitoring Products) Security Systems
