Benefits Specialist

Behavioral Health Allies is seeking an experienced Benefits Specialist to manage the day-to-day administration of our employee benefits and leave programs. This position serves as a key resource to employees and is responsible for benefits enrollments, COBRA administration, billing and reconciliation, Leave of Absence administration, ADA accommodation requests, and benefits-related HRIS support.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented benefits professional who takes ownership of the employee benefits and leave experience. You should be comfortable working with confidential information, resolving discrepancies, managing deadlines, and communicating complex benefits and leave information in a clear and supportive manner. If you have strong benefits administration experience, understand COBRA and leave processes, and are highly proficient in computer systems, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and other employer-sponsored benefits.
  • Manage employee eligibility, enrollments, qualifying life events, benefit changes, and terminations.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment, including employee communications, elections, deadlines, and system updates.
  • Manage COBRA administration, including qualifying events, notices, elections, coverage information, and coordination with COBRA administrators and carriers.
  • Review and reconcile monthly benefit invoices against Paylocity enrollment records and payroll deductions.
  • Research and resolve billing discrepancies, enrollment errors, and deduction issues.
  • Manage the organization's Leave of Absence program, including FMLA and other applicable leaves.
  • Coordinate leave requests, required documentation, eligibility, notices, timelines, intermittent leave tracking, and return-to-work processes.
  • Coordinate ADA accommodation requests and support the interactive process in partnership with HR leadership.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate benefits, leave, and accommodation records.
  • Serve as a primary resource for employees regarding benefits, COBRA, leaves, and accommodation processes.
  • Communicate benefit and leave requirements, deadlines, and next steps clearly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate benefits, eligibility, deduction, and leave data in Paylocity HCM and related systems.
  • Audit Paylocity information and reconcile data with benefit carriers, vendors, and payroll records.
  • Prepare benefits reports, tracking tools, employee communications, and compliance documentation.
  • Work closely with HR, payroll, finance, benefit carriers, vendors, and leadership to resolve issues and ensure accurate administration.
  • Monitor benefits and leave deadlines and assist with audits and compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve benefits, leave, and HR processes.
  • Perform other HR initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in benefits administration, HR, or a related field.
  • Experience administering employee benefits, COBRA, FMLA/leave programs, and ADA accommodations.
  • Experience working in a regulated compliance driven environment required.
  • Strong Paylocity HCM experience desired, including benefits and employee data functions.
  • Experience with benefits billing, invoice review, and reconciliation.
  • Strong understanding of benefits enrollment and eligibility processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile benefits and payroll-related information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong employee service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
  • Strong organizational, tracking, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Full-Time Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • OnDemand Pay (access your pay when you need it)
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) / Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options
  • Short- and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Additional $100 monthly wellness benefit after 90 days

Starting Pay: Our compensation is competitive within the market. The minimum salary for this position begins at $62,000 annually, with your final offer based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications.
