To fully unlock the potential of this opportunity, Terabase is developing an interconnected software and construction automation platform. We work alongside project developers, owners, and engineering & construction firms to support the design, optimization, and construction of huge solar projects around the world. Our team is a blend of solar-industry veterans and newbies, thought-leaders, dreamers, software, electrical and mechanical engineers, coders, product managers, project managers, and sales and marketing professionals. We are based in Northern California, with several other offices in the United States and around the world. If all of this piques your interest, we’d love to hear from you!

As the Assistant Controller, you will oversee the company’s full accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability across all financial processes. You will manage the accounting team, strengthen financial controls, and optimize systems to support a high-growth, global business. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and forward-thinking accounting leader with experience in cost/manufacturing accounting, audits, consolidated financial reporting, and operating in multi-jurisdictional environments.

You will bring rigor, structure, and strategic insight to a rapidly expanding organization, partnering closely with FP&A, Operations, and cross-functional leaders to drive financial transparency, operational efficiency, and global scalability.

  • Oversee general ledger integrity, account reconciliations, and company-wide adherence to US GAAP and internal policies.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and management reporting packages; monitor actuals versus budget and investigate significant variances.

Cost & Manufacturing Accounting

  • Oversee all cost accounting processes, including standard cost development, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances. Work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Logistics, Engineering and Finance regarding BOM reviews and production margin analysis.
  • Partner closely with our Cost Accountant and Operations to provide financial insight into cost drivers, efficiency initiatives, and product-level profitability.

Financial Controls, Audit & Compliance

  • Strengthen internal control frameworks and ensure consistent compliance across business units and international entities.
  • Lead preparation for external audits, act as a key liaison with auditors, and implement recommendations to improve financial accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work with contractors to support tax and regulatory filings in multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Support Sales and external specialist on contract sales tax considerations, reporting, filling and remittance.

Systems, Processes & Automation

  • Oversee accounting system data integrity with internal systems management resource. Work to be the SME or primary owner of NetSuite supporting 3rd party implementation consultants and internal resources on configuration, workflows, and optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and implement scalable, technology-enabled solutions- specifically leveraging AI where possible.
  • Champion process improvement initiatives that enhance accuracy, visibility, and operational efficiency across Accounting & Finance.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with FP&A, Operations, Engineering, and Commercial teams to ensure financial clarity, cross-functional alignment, and seamless flow of financial data.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including global expansion, system enhancements and integrations, utilization and headcount management, and future M&A integration.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, consolidated financial reporting, and multi-entity accounting.
  • Experience operating in international or multi-jurisdictional environments.
  • Prior experience with NetSuite.
  • Previous audit experience (public accounting or internal audit function).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting teams.

Preferred

  • Experience in solar, renewable energy, manufacturing, hardware, or high-growth scale-up environments.
