Description
JOB SUMMARY The Database Administrator is responsible for managing all Microsoft SQL databases, architecture, and infrastructure within the GSF organization. Their duties include monitoring, designing, developing, securing, testing, maintaining, installing, and optimizing database technologies at GSF. This encompasses both on-premise SQL servers and SQL-as-a-service options, such as RDS and Azure SQL Database.).
This position is primarily focused on supporting GSF business-critical applications. This position is Hybrid (3 days in the office).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(% of time may vary depending on assignments / projects)
1. Database Administration Duties
- Drive database optimization by engaging with software vendors to identify poor queries.
- Optimize and tune high transactional database systems engaging with application team.
- Monitors database performance and implements changes to tune performance.
- Works side by side with the applications team to optimize application performance.
- Establishes physical database parameters.
- Work closely with the applications teams to maintain a data dictionary
- Calculates optimum values for database parameters.
- Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data.
- Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database.
- Work with development teams and analysts to make changes to the database.
- Establish standards for database systems and database security.
- Implements cybersecurity best practices.
