About Clean Chemistry

Clean Chemistry was founded in 2012 with a mission to develop and commercialize a high-tech, transformative chemistry that displaces conventional products used for water treatment, sanitization, and bleaching, in alignment with today’s sustainability goals. Clean Chemistry is a hands-on technology, product and service company with a world class team headquartered in Longmont, CO and Midland, TX. The company provides value to its customers by improving safety and health, performance, reliability, transparency, compliance, and environmental stewardship resulting in reduced operating costs, capital expenditures and risk. These efforts are led by our interdisciplinary team with extensive experience and a passion for success.

The Field Engineer will be based out of one of Clean Chemistry’s strategically located operations facilities and support Clean Chemistry’s product field trials, system installations and operations in pulp & paper mills, food & beverage facilities, and other industrial plants in the USA and internationally. This is a dynamic, hands-on position requiring a well-rounded skill set for recent engineering graduates or the more experienced engineer. The position will require traveling regularly to work at customer facilities, which is expected to be 25 to 50% of the time. The balance of time will be used for data analysis, remotely supporting trial operations, preparing equipment and materials for deployment, and building a detailed understanding of specific applications/processes. The position will often be customer-facing, requiring effective, professional communication skills. ● Travel to and work at customer facilities to run product trials with Clean Chemistry’s teams. Communicate and work with the customer’s management and staff

● Develop a detailed understanding and proficiency for Clean Chemistry’s chemical production systems to maintain, troubleshoot and repair chemical production equipment

● Test and evaluate chemical production systems before and after deployment

● Conduct chemical analyses of Clean Chemistry’s product and of process streams treated by the chemistry

● Manage and coordinate systems and equipment for deployment to trials and permanent installations

● Develop an understanding of specific customer facilities and processes

● Analyze customer data and key performance indicators to understand the impact of Clean Chemistry’s technology in a variety of applications

  • Evaluate processes in field operations settings and communicate with Operations, Engineering and HSEQ (health, safety, environment & quality) teams to develop improvements to safety, quality, and efficiency

Requirements

● Bachelor’s or master’s engineering degree (e.g., mechanical, chemical, environmental) or comparable work experience

● Excellent problem-solving skills with process equipment and automation, chemical manufacturing, or industrial/municipal water treatment processes

● Able to travel independently, drive, and work in industrial facilities with moderate walking distances, flights of stairs, and seasonal outdoor temperature variations (hot and below freezing)

● Willing to travel (25-50%, varies by month), work flexible and extended hours at customer sites. Ability to travel in the US and internationally

● Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers; strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Troubleshoot and support internal and external customers remotely. Off hour conversations are often required.

● Proficient with the use of spreadsheet and database software to compile, analyze, and present data. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

● Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiatives to drive projects forward

Preferred Experience

● Preferred experience working in industrial facilities which may include pulp & paper, water treatment, chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage manufacturing

● Familiarity with chemical reactions, chemical notation, stoichiometric calculations and converting units of measure

● Plumbing and hands on mechanical experience.

● Experience with chemical hygiene and safety programs

● Hands-on experience working with PLC’s, process sensors, control signals, power supplies, motors, and pumps

● Experience with engineering design software and Google Suite tools

● Equipment assembly or fabrication experience and process hazard analysis

● Project management experience

Compensation and Benefits

● Competitive salary, depending on experience

● Health, life, disability, 401k

● Companywide bonus initiatives
