The Postpartum Registered Nurse provides compassionate, evidence-based care to postpartum patients and their newborns. This includes monitoring maternal recovery after delivery, supporting breastfeeding and bonding, and educating new parents about infant care. The RN collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective care for both mother and baby during their hospital stay.
\n\nMonitor and assess postpartum recovery (vital signs, bleeding, fundus, incision sites, etc.)
\n\nProvide newborn care: vital signs, feeding support, hygiene, and safety
\n\nEducate and support parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
\n\nAdminister medications and manage pain control for postpartum patients
\n\nRecognize and respond to potential complications in mothers and newborns
\n\nDocument nursing care accurately and timely in electronic medical records (EMR)
\n\nCollaborate with physicians, lactation consultants, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals
\n\nAssist with discharge planning and ensure families are equipped for safe home care
