Are you looking to kickstart or advance your career to unlock the future you?  This is your chance to make a meaningful impact and contribute to renewable energy in Tasmania!

TasNetworks are on the lookout for energetic individuals who enjoy working in a team environment to join our Apprenticeship Program.  Commencing in February 2026, our 2-year apprenticeship program provides the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised trade qualification – Certificate III in ESI Distribution Overhead (UET30621).

Learning from skilled and dedicated tradespeople, you will be exposed to –

  • A combination of theory and hands-on learning, delivered by TasNetworks’ own Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
  • On-site field work at various job sites in the region (South, North, North-West)
  • Construction and maintenance of the transmission overhead network
  • Conduct low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) switching operations
  • Locate and rectify faults on the transmission network
  • Operate and maintain plant and equipment
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and reporting

TasNetworks are responsible for ‘keeping the lights on’ across Tasmania and our field crews are committed to investigating and restoring power in times of extreme weather conditions including storms, bushfires, floods and snowfall.

Our Dual Trade apprenticeship won’t just provide you with a job, but it will set you up with a career for life!

To be eligible to participate in our Apprenticeship Program, you must have the ability to work towards completion of the relevant trade Certificate, adhere to health, safety and environmental practices in the workplace, possess strong communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with peers, leaders and our customers.

You will need to be physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical examination and hold a current provisional drivers' licence by commencement date in February 2026.

You will need to have completed Year 12 and passed Maths, English and preferably a Science subject, OR have completed pre-vocational studies in Certificate II in Electrotechnology (or equivalent) OR have relevant work experience to be eligible.

What's on offer

Our Dual Trade Apprenticeships are a 2-year commitment with a permanent role being offered within the region once you are a qualified tradesperson.  This role is based out of our Scottsdale depot.
