Provide EHS guidance and coaching across mining, manufacturing, maintenance, shipping, packaging, warehouse, laboratory, and site infrastructure operations, including support for projects, operational changes, and Management of Change activities.

The position has no routine direct reports but provides technical direction, training, coaching, and EHS leadership across the site.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support compliance with federal, state, local, and company EHS requirements, including MSHA, environmental regulations, permits, and internal programs.
  • Conduct routine field inspections, Life Saving Rule observations, and risk assessments to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, environmental concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Track corrective actions and partner with operations to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
  • Support MSHA Part 48 training, including new miner, experienced miner, annual refresher, task training, hazard awareness, and site-specific training. Maintain accurate training records.
  • Participate in investigations of incidents, injuries, near hits, property damage, and environmental events. Assist with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support environmental compliance programs, including water, stormwater, waste, spill prevention, air permitting, groundwater, and required sampling, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, procedures, policies, inspections, audits, and training based on regulatory and site requirements.
  • Perform or coordinate industrial hygiene sampling, environmental monitoring, and site assessments.
  • Provide technical EHS guidance and coaching to employees, supervisors, contractors, engineering, and site leadership.
  • Partner with engineering and operations on process changes, projects, and Management of Change activities to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Support implementation of Corporate EHS&S initiatives, including the Huber Sustainability Management System and Life Saving Rules.
  • Assist with required regulatory and internal EHS reporting and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related technical field required. An Associate’s degree with relevant mining, manufacturing, or EHS experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of EHS experience required.
  • Mining experience with working knowledge of MSHA/30 CFR regulations, including underground metal/nonmetal requirements and MSHA Part 48 training.
  • Knowledge of occupational health hazards in mining and mineral processing, including silica/dust, diesel particulate matter, noise, chemical, and ergonomic exposures.
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance and permitting requirements related to air, water, waste, spill prevention, and reporting.
  • Understanding of mining and manufacturing hazards, risk assessment, hierarchy of controls, incident investigation, and corrective action processes.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections, identify hazards, assess risk, and recommend practical solutions in underground and surface operations.
  • Strong communication, organization, training, project management, and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and EHS/compliance management systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, leadership, engineering teams, regulatory agencies, and corporate partners.

Physical Requirements
