JOB TITLE: EHS Coordinator (Chandler Arizona)

DEPARTMENT: EHS

REPORTS TO: Global EHS Director

SUMMARY: The EHS Coordinator role provides daily on-site Safety and Environmental Compliance support to the MSR-FSR Chandler Critical Component Solutions Operations facility to ensure protection of people, property and the environment following established processes and fostering cooperative relationships with site leadership and workforce. Operations involve the use of hazardous chemicals, so occasional use of a respirator and an aptitude for chemical safety is important. This role, working closely with the Quality Coordinator, is a 1-deep position supporting a single facility of approximately 50 people, with support of a local safety committee, remote peer support from the EHS Team in the US, and collaboration with the Global EHS Director. As a salaried Management Support role, anticipate 45-50 hours/week, with rare occasion for on call or after-hours support.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate compliance of Arizona State OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to MSR-FSR’s operations. The job functions listed below are required to be successful in this role. However, some of the experience and training needed to meet these requirements may be acquired within the first few months of hiring through targeted training programs and mentoring.

· Respond to operation’s requests for EH&S assistance (e.g., answers to questions, EH&S technical and regulatory clarifications, creation of EH&S plans and forms, EH&S evaluation of workplace designs, and product EH&S evaluations).

· Participate in the preparation, maintenance, and dissemination of written documentation providing guidance to EH&S compliance and improvement efforts (e.g., policies, manuals, plans and programs, procedures and guidelines, forms, and training programs).

· Complete routine floor audits to determine compliance/conformance status with regulatory/ company requirements, and seek opportunities to improve EH&S performance, elevating any concerns to management.

· Perform/participate in spot inspections, Risk Assessments, and process reviews to ensure EHS compliance.

· Conduct / assist in incident investigations and after-action improvement plans.

· Prepare and provide workforce training presentations in small groups.

· Must be able to wear a respirator and provide training, fit testing, and medical surveillance documents for the Respiratory Protection Program.

· Works with Operations and engineering to ensure proper profiling, waste stream establishment, packaging, and storage of hazardous waste in accordance with EPA/DOT/State regulations.

· Provide post-audit recommendations on actions to address deficiencies.

· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· This job has no full-time supervisory responsibilities but may be elected to lead a Local Safety Committee by its members and facilitate meetings. May at times have to assume temporary responsibilities as delegated.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

A combination of education, training and hands-on experience is ideal. The target equivalent qualification would include:

· Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical/military school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Additional training, and/or certifications in the Safety, Occupational Health, and/or Environmental Protection career field are preferable.

· Computer skills are required: Microsoft Office Suite; (Word, Excel, e-mail, etc.).

· Other skills required for full performance, which may be acquired during the first year of employment:

o Ability to clearly communicate in English through verbal and written documentation and provide influential training and guidance.

o Knowledge of regulations related to air emissions, hazardous waste, and water discharges.

o Knowledge of safe handling practices of chemicals and ability to handle potentially hazardous substances utilizing proper procedures.

o Ability to research, interpret and understand federal, state, and local EHS requirements, as well as industry best practices and consensus standards such as ISO and ANSI.

o Ability to write reports to include objective interpretation of facts and circumstances, identify causal factors, and recommend corrective actions.
