Pharmacists are responsible for knowing the purposes, effects, and side effects of various drugs. Caregivers in this role should be able to tell from looking at a patient's profile whether or not it is safe to combine new medications with the medications that the patient is already taking. Modern drugs have the potential to significantly improve patient's quality of life, however, they must be taken correctly, with the proper frequency, and in the appropriate dosage.

Caregivers in this role will work 3 : 00am to 11 : 30pm. Weekend requirements will be every 3rd weekend. Caregivers will also work 1 major and 1 minor holiday and will cover about 14 days of overnight coverage.

A caregiver who excels in this role will :

• Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based pharmacy and medication services.
• Ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders.
• Verify medication orders and / or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
• Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
• Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives.
• Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards.
• Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and / or patients.
• Provide cost-effective care.
• Be accountable for drug use policy adherence.
