Job description

Manager - Salesforce Engineering

Oncourse Home Solutions, also operated as American Water Resources, is a trusted home protection provider helping homeowners across the country protect what matters most. We are a $500 million organization backed by private equity firm Apax Partners, serving 2 million customers across 43 states. We partner with 25+ utilities and municipalities (and growing!) to provide customized solutions tailored to any community - delivering real value where people live. We help homeowners protect the essential systems that keep their homes running - from HVAC, appliances, and electrical to water, sewer, gas lines, and more - so they can avoid the stress and financial impact of unexpected repairs. Our work helps homeowners stay safe, comfortable, and confident in their homes every day. At Oncourse, our people are what makes that possible. We call ourselves SUPERs - Successful, United, Progressive, Empathetic, and Reliable - because that's how we show up for our customers and for each other. We invest in our employees through competitive benefits, an inclusive culture, and employee-led resource groups that strengthen connection, community, and belonging across the company. As an equal opportunity employer, our employment decisions are based on business needs, job requirements and individual qualifications without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, ancestry, marital status, parental status, mental or physical disability, military or veteran status, or any other basis protected by federal, state, or local law. Oncourse Home Solutions is committed to recruiting and retaining talented applicants and to providing all employees with a workplace free from discrimination and/or harassment.

We are looking for an experienced Salesforce Engineering Manager to lead our platform engineering team. You will own the technical direction, architecture, and delivery of our Salesforce ecosystem while managing, mentoring, and growing a team of talented engineers and developers. Partnering closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and cross-functional teams, you will deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that drive business impact, and provide leadership over QA, vendor and partner relationships, and team culture. This role is located at our headquarters in Naperville, IL. Our office environment is a key driver of our company culture and employee experience, so a regular in-office hybrid model (T-TH in office and M & F remote) is required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Salesforce Engineering Leadership
  • Team Leadership & Culture
  • QA Oversight
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Vendor, Offshore & Partner Management

We're Excited if this is You

A hands-on engineering leader who sets technical direction and still understands the work deeply enough to guide it. A people-first manager who develops talent, builds trust, and creates high-performing teams. A pragmatic decision-maker who balances quality, speed, and cost without losing sight of the customer. A clear communicator who can move easily between technical detail and executive conversation. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment and managing competing priorities.

Experience and Qualifications of the Role

6+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience. 3+ years managing Salesforce engineering teams, including direct people management. Deep expertise in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL, Visualforce, and Salesforce APIs. Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, data modeling, security model, and governor limits. Proven experience with integrations (REST/SOAP APIs, middleware platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, or similar). Experience with DevOps tooling for Salesforce (SFDX, Git, CI/CD pipelines, tools such as Copado, Gearset, or Flosum). Track record of delivering complex Salesforce projects on time and on budget. Demonstrated experience managing vendors, offshore teams, or implementation partners. Working knowledge of QA practices and the ability to set quality direction for a team, even if QA is not your primary background.

Preferred Qualifications

Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer II, Application Architect, or System Architect. Experience with multiple Salesforce clouds (Sales, Service, Experience, Marketing, CPQ, Revenue Cloud). Familiarity with Salesforce test automation tools (Provar, Copado Robotic Testing, Selenium) and Apex test frameworks. Familiarity with adjacent tools and ecosystems (Snowflake, Segment, ERP platforms, AWS, and similar). Experience leading large-scale Salesforce migrations, org consolidations, or platform modernizations. Experience negotiating SOWs, MSAs, and managing partner commercial relationships. Experience building distributed or globally distributed engineering teams. Background working in regulated industries or with sensitive customer data.

Education

An undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. An MS, MBA, or related advanced degree is preferred, or equivalent experience.

Total Rewards

We offer a compelling total rewards package that includes a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits to support your total wellbeing. The base pay range for this position is $129,840 - $194,760 USD Annual. The specific pay offered will depend on qualifications, experience, education and skill set. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

Functional/Technical Skills - Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.

Dealing with Ambiguity - Can effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; isn't upset when things are up in the air; doesn't have to finish things before moving on; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.

Strategic Agility - Sees ahead clearly; can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately; has broad knowledge and perspective; is future oriented; can articulately paint credible pictures and visions of possibilities and likelihoods; can create competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans.
