The Department of Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics invites applications for a full-time position as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Statistics. This position involves instructing undergraduates in statistics and data science courses, along with maintaining an active research program and participating in undergraduate mentoring and advising. Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The potential to develop an externally funded research program is preferred. Candidates must have a strong record of scholarly and professional achievements.
The Department of Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics is composed of eight full-time faculty, two part-time faculty, and various adjunct faculty. There are over 130 students seeking degrees in six majors, six minors, and one master’s program : majors in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics, minors in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics, and MS in Applied Statistics and Data Science.
Responsibilities :
Teach courses in statistics, mathematics, data science, or related fields, maintain an active research program involving students, mentor and advise students, and participate in department and university affairs. Engage in ongoing professional development (e.g., seminars and conferences) to stay current with cutting-edge pedagogies and methodologies.
Level and appointment : Open rank (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor) eligible for term-tenure extended contract.
Salary : Salary commensurate with experience.
Qualifications :
- Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or Applied Mathematics is required.
- Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence.
- Demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Azusa Pacific University. (Faculty members are required to sign a “Statement of Faith,” available at , and to adhere to the policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook.)
- An interest in helping students to integrate their faith and their studies.
