POSITION SUMMARY:
Focus Interpreting is seeking a qualified CART Interpreter to join our team. As a Communication Access Real-Time Translation (CART) Interpreter, you will provide real-time transcription services for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring equal access to spoken communication in various settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver accurate and timely CART services in educational, professional, and public setting environments.
- Employ specialized CART equipment and software to transcribe spoken words into text in real time.
- Ensure confidentiality and professionalism during all interpretation sessions.
- Continuously refine transcription skills and knowledge of various subject matters to effectively serve clients.
- Collaborate with clients and other professionals to customize CART services based on specific needs and preferences.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong fluency in English, with excellent written communication skills.
- Experience and proficiency with CART software and technology.
- Knowledge of deaf culture and effective communication strategies for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in high-pressure situations.
- Certification as a CART provider or similar credential is preferred.
