Job Description

SAP experience a must will maintain inventory records, receive parts in and work with Finance in the ABB SAP system. This position interfaces with our field service team, customers and suppliers as well as internal departments.

Qualifications

Position Title: Material Specialist 1. Description of Overall Function The position will verify issue and relieve materials for all service parts orders, and returns while assuring accurate and timely results. This includes the handling of the actual parts returned as well as reconciling service work orders for billing purposes. Reconciliation includes coordinating with service technicians to ensure an accurate accounting of parts used on orders as well as timely return of unused parts. 2. Key Responsibilities Issue / Receive material and close all service orders. Perform regular cycle counts and inventory checks to validate system accuracy Work with Finance on customer billing. Coordinate with Service Technicians to ensure accurate accounting of parts used on jobs, and timely return of unused parts. Item maintenance and warranty claim processing Coordinate Module returns from customer and suppliers assuring system transactions are accurate Work with and back-up service team when needed to send out service parts to technicians or job site. 3. Minimum Qualifications Required for This Position Minimum high school degree Two to Three years prior experience in a material planning/scheduling role Demonstrated previous knowledge of manufacturing & assembly processes Previous experience in JIT/Kanban environment and Service Support Strong PC literacy with spreadsheets and word processing Excellent communications skills (written & verbal) 4. Desired Qualifications Required for This Position Undergraduate degree in related field or Associates Degree preferred CPIM or related credentials 5. Personality and Behavior Traits Expected for This Position Multi-task flexible Stress tolerant to a fast paced, results oriented environment Quality & cost conscious Dedicated, team player Fact based planner/problem solver High sense of urgency and integrity 6. Relationships / Supervision Exercised Position reports to Supply Chain Manager Indirect responsibility to Operations management Regular interaction exists with: - Material Manager - Warehouse Supervisor - Production Supervisors -Service Technicians 7. Amount of Supervision Received a. Minimal: Receives only broad instructions from supervisor. Sets many priorities independently and proceeds at own pace. Keeps supervisor informed of progress as needed. Often supervises two or more employees, has authority to hire or fire and exercises discretionary powers. b. Routine: Receives many task assignments from supervisor, but may initiate certain tasks without supervision. Keeps supervisor informed of progress regularly. May have some management responsibilities, make key decisions and write and manage policies and procedures with guidance from supervisor. c. Detailed: Individual tasks are assigned by supervisor. Tasks are normally routine. Set procedures are written on how to perform the function of the job. No managerial duties, or key decisions, policies or procedures are written without direct supervision and guidance. 8. Measures of Performance Reduction of material variances on orders Improved inventory accuracy 9. Physical Requirements (0%=Never; 1-10%=Rarely; 11-35%=Occasionally; 36-65%=Frequently; 66-100%=Continuously) Light physical effort normally 5-10 lbs. - Continuously Requires ability to lift up to 10-25 lbs. - Occasionally Lifting above shoulder level up to 25 lbs. - Rarely Carrying (while walking to hold or rest weight directly on hands, arms, or shoulder) - Occasionally Pushing (to exert force on or against an object to move about) - Occasionally Good manual dexterity (typing, writing, filing, creating presentation binders) - Continuously Use of hands - Continuously Speaking (able to communicate verbally, clearly and concisely on a daily basis) - Continuously Sitting while working on the PC or phone on a daily basis - Continuously Good vision required - Continuously Walking (up and down stairs on a daily basis) - Occasionally Reaching above the shoulder - Rarely Reaching below the shoulder (reaching across desk/table) - Occasionally Bending (forward motion of the upper body from the waist to pick up or work close to the floor) - Rarely Squatting (bending at the knees to lower body) to pick up or work close to floor) - Rarely Climbing - Rarely
