Job description

Make Precision Happen

If building reliable, repeatable CNC milling processes is your craft, this role puts you at the center of quality and throughput. You’ll transform drawings and G-code into stable production on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis HMC/VMC equipment—often Makino—while elevating safety, documentation, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Tackle

  • Set up and run HMC/VMC CNC mills: install fixtures and attachments, select cutting tools, load part programs, and dial in offsets to hit spec (Makino preferred).
  • Decode drawings, GD&T, and G-code; validate toolpaths and refine as necessary.
  • Control quality in cycle: inspect with calipers, micrometers, and variable/attribute gauges; analyze CMM reports; make live adjustments to maintain capability.
  • Troubleshoot machines, robots, and processes; perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime.
  • Own robotic load/unload parameters to stabilize handoff and cycle time.
  • Document setups, tool changes, and adjustments; maintain end-to-end part identification and traceability.
  • Partner with supervisors and engineers to identify risks and meet or exceed production standards and goals.
  • Escalate when needed and drive corrective actions for process, quality, and safety.
  • Train operators on setup and operation; champion best practices and standard work.
  • Spot and implement machining process improvements.
  • Keep a 5S work area; meet MIOSHA requirements and comply with written and verbal safety policies.
  • Execute within the Quality Management System (IATF 16949) and internal procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years setting up 3-, 4-, and 5-axis HMC CNCs; Makino setup knowledge preferred.
  • CNC machine operation and G-code programming experience.
  • CAD/CAM familiarity (preferred).
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, speeds/feeds, and cutting speed terminology.
  • Blueprint literacy and strong use of precision measuring tools.
  • Hands-on experience with machine setup, fixturing, and CNC offset adjustments.
  • Competence in basic math and geometry for part layouts; computer proficiency.
  • Meticulous attention to detail; investigative approach to non-conformances with a zero-defect mindset.
  • Able to follow procedures and work independently; strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-first communicator who performs under pressure, shows respect, owns outcomes, and follows through.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with Makino, FANUC, Mori Seiki, and similar CNC controls.
  • English/Spanish bilingual ability is a plus.
  • Flexibility with work hours and capacity to navigate unexpected challenges quickly and effectively.
