About Our Client

They are looking to appoint a COO who will be crucial in their expansion plans as they look to double their headcount and project portfolio.
Job Description
The COO (Renewable Energy) will be responsible for :
Operational Leadership :
- Work closely with leaders across the business ensuring that all processes are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Work closely with the executive team to establish and implement operational strategies that align with the company's long-term goals.
- Develop and enforce standardized procedures and best practices to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance in all operations.
- Lead the development and management of land lease agreements, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with legal, finance, and project teams to draft, review, and negotiate contracts to support the successful execution of renewable energy projects.
- Establish processes for ongoing lease management, including renewals, amendments, and compliance monitoring.
- Oversee and streamline the permitting process to ensure timely approvals and adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with governmental agencies, environmental consultants, and other stakeholders to navigate complex permitting requirements.
- Implement processes to track and manage permitting timelines and requirements for multiple projects simultaneously.
- Develop and implement processes for managing interconnection agreements with utilities and grid operators, ensuring efficient integration of renewable energy projects.
- Establish strong relationships with utility companies and regulatory bodies to ensure timely and cost-effective interconnection.
- Monitor interconnection processes and address challenges or delays proactively.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of renewable energy projects from inception through construction.
- Implement standardized project management methodologies, tools, and reporting systems to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Analyze and identify areas for process improvement across all operational functions.
- Lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the overall effectiveness of the company's operations.
- Implement performance metrics and monitoring systems to track operational effectiveness and outcomes.
- Foster collaboration between departments such as development, legal, finance, operations, and engineering to ensure smooth project progression and alignment with company objectives.
- Provide strategic input to the CEO and board regarding operational performance, opportunities, and challenges.
- Experience;
- Minimum of 12 years of operational leadership experience, with at least 10 years in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, or other renewables).
- Proven track record in optimizing operations and driving process improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, environmental science, or related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Deep knowledge of renewable energy project development, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards.
- Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Exceptional leadership, team-building, and mentoring abilities.
- 275,000 - $300,000 base salary
