Job Description:
Senior Java / Spring Boot Engineer – Digital Checkout (Contract)
This role supports the Avvance (Buy Now, Pay Later) platform, a multi‑channel B2B2C lending solution that enables merchants to offer point‑of‑sale financing directly within their checkout experience. The engineer will focus on the Avvance consumer checkout experience, contributing to feature delivery, platform stability, and production support within a modern, API‑driven digital ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new features for the Avvance consumer checkout experience using Java and Spring Boot
- Collaborate with Lead Engineers and Product Owners to plan features and stories in JIRA
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including refinement, daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
- Ensure high code quality through peer code reviews, unit testing, and adherence to engineering standards
- Update and maintain production runbooks based on system enhancements
- Triage and troubleshoot issues encountered by partners during UAT and in Production
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams to support a scalable, reliable digital checkout platform
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of overall software engineering experience
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Java
- 5+ years of experience building services with Spring Boot
- 3+ years of experience with Jenkins, Maven, and Kubernetes
- 3+ years of experience working with Postgres and/or MongoDB
- Strong understanding of REST‑based APIs and backend service development
- Solid communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional Agile teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting consumer‑facing digital checkout or payment applications
- Background working in large‑scale enterprise or financial services environments
