Position Summary
The VP of Special Projects will be responsible for providingexecutive leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for the Special Projects division. Direct, coordinate, and supervise the Special Projects team in developing and preparing detailed cost estimates for high-value, complex, or strategic initiatives. Responsible for growing and maintaining key accounts, identifying new opportunities, and ensuring revenue and delivery goals are met. Promote a client-centric, solution-driven approach that balances technical excellence with business development.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead all estimating efforts for strategic projects from concept through delivery.
- Build and expand vendor and customer relationships in the special projects sector.
- Develop and execute growth strategies to retain and expand key accounts.
- Evaluate ITBs / RFQs / RFPs to prioritize project pursuit aligned with company strategy.
- Create or oversee bid proposals, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, align on goals, and ensure successful handoffs to operations.
- Guide team through complex design-build and plan / spec estimates; step in as needed for fast-track opportunities.
- Lead Special Projects team meetings and reporting (Scorecard, Bid Log, Quarterly Rocks, Yearly Goals).
- Optimize estimating processes, tools, and data infrastructure to support innovation and scale.
- Ensure high-quality execution of pre-construction activities including job walks, bid reviews, vendor engagement, and code compliance.
- Own the sales forecasting rhythm for special projects; collaborate cross-functionally to drive visibility and growth.
- Coach and mentor team members; foster accountability, professional development, and high-performance culture.
