Insurance Billing Specialist
The Insurance Billing Specialist will interact with all insurance companies primarily on Hearing Aids / Durable Medical Equipment and clinical billing.
This position is responsible for the accurate and timely submission of a clean claim to various insurance payors, including commercial and government payors, while adhering to government regulations and coding guidelines.
Essential Functions :
- Responsible for running the system-based worklist and identifying all unbilled claims.
- Responsible for reviewing invoices to ensure all billing requirements are met.
- Keep up to date on industry changes and accepted billing practices
- Responsible for creating and submitting complete insurance claims within acceptable date lag from DOS, once the claim has been flagged to bill
- Review and resolve claims that were rejected in the clearinghouse with an acceptable time frame of submission. Notifies and collaborates with the clinic team to obtain any missing / incorrect information for unbilled claims promptly.
- Partners with the AR and Insurance Follow-up Specialists to assist with resolving any claims issues.
- Resolve any assigned SNOW tickets from the field.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Work Experience
- Background in healthcare
- Prior medical insurance billing experience
- Basic Medical Terminology
- Experience with completing billing forms
- Experience in dealing with various insurance companies.
- Working knowledge of Excel
- 1-2- years of related experience in a professional or hospital setting
- Must be organized and ability to work within designated timeframes
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Detail oriented
- Must be able to work remotely and achieve expected outcomes as defined by CBO leadership
Education :
- High School diploma required
- Bachelors’ degree in a related field preferred or equivalent years of experience
