Location
This position can be located at our Lincoln Alabama, Greensburg Indiana, or Ohio Plants.
Job Purpose
This position is to perform Off-Line Programming (OLP) utilizing simulation software and robotics knowledge to reduce new model introduction time.
They will be responsible for minimizing the negative impact on current model production while reducing online robot programming time for new model activity.
The primary tools this position uses are robotic simulation, cycle time estimations, and validating tooling design in the 3D CAD / CAE environment.
In addition, they are tasked with supporting the project teams through associate mentorship and helping improve our internal group capability.
Key Accountabilities
Execute new model Off line simulation for individual process or create new process from specification including logic updates.
Tooling clearance checks, cycle time validation, and robot program download
Communicate with Engineering, Mechanical Design and Electrical Design on changes needed to successfully install Off Line Programming.
Technical mentor for entry level Robot Simulators (EX1). Supports others in verifying simulation readiness.
In depth cycle time analysis for current production stabilization and improvement.
Lead online teach team consisting of internal and contract resources on a Zone level for Off Line Programming implementation and cycle time verification.
Support of overall unit initiatives and lead group level business plan goals.
Create deliverables for Off Line Programming implementation or handoff to supplier.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Educational Qualifications :
Bachelor of Science degree in Robotics / Mechanical / Manufacturing / Welding Engineering / Engineering Technology or equivalent education and work experience.
Required Experience :
Minimum 3 years of Simulation and / or Robot programming
Desired Skills :
- Off-line programming experience
- Experience with Fanuc and / or Yaskawa Motoman robotic programming
- Robotic and / or Automated equipment deployment experience
- Experience leading small-scale OLP projects
Working Conditions
- 85% Office environment creation of Offline programs.
- 15% Manufacturing floor Line side investigation / system-up support / verification at any Honda facility
- Must be willing to travel locally, regional, and internationally as required on a project basis (to Honda facilities or external equipment vendors).
