Engineering Specialist
Every building permit, utility project, and construction effort within Flagstaff's Right-of-Way relies on careful coordination behind the scenes, and the Engineering Specialist is central to making that happen. In this role, you'll administer and process Right-of-Way permits while delivering excellent customer service to the utility companies and contractors who depend on a smooth, responsive permitting process. You'll also play a key role in maintaining the City's engineering records, coordinating construction plans, as-built drawings, and property dedications between Development Engineering and GIS. This position is a great fit for someone with a background in civil engineering or public works construction who is comfortable working with tools like GIS, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam, and who enjoys bringing precision and organization to a fast-moving development environment. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Coordinates the tracking, filing and archiving of all construction plans, as-built plans and property dedications related to public improvements. Coordinates with City of Flagstaff GIS to ensure that all of the above documents are transferred to GIS.
- Processes Right-of-Way permits.
- Responsible for development engineering-related public records requests along with the City Records Coordinator.
- Conducts basic and well-defined review of building permit applications for engineering/public improvement-related items.
- Coordinates with City of Flagstaff Finance in providing data relating to Fixed Asset Report.
- Performs simple drafting associated with plotting including performing, assisting, and training other COF personnel in data reduction and drawing generation.
- Assists the Traffic Section with reviews, research, field traffic counter layouts.
- Responsible for proper and timely filing of all engineering maps, design drawings, and as-builts.
- Performs administrative duties, as assigned to support the Development Engineering Section.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Two-year certificate from college or technical school in an engineering, construction, GIS or survey-related discipline.
- Two years (2) of experience using computers, including CAD, GIS, and or construction/engineering permitting systems and processes.
- Any combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.

Our total compensation package includes best-in-class benefits and an annual salary of $49,608.00 - $74,422.40, based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Plus:
