Overview

TNS is looking for a passionate, motivated senior engineer to join our Network Management Systems (NMS) & Network Automation Team.

The role will require extensive experience in network and infrastructure monitoring tools and technologies. You will be assisting the team as we continue our drive for enterprise monitoring transformation and rationalization.

Our mission is to consolidate many stratified monitoring and event management solutions into a unified framework backed by current technologies.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Learning and understanding the various monitoring technologies employed by TNS.
• Developing, deploying, and maintaining highly available management and monitoring solutions in support of Network Operations and TNS business units.
• Be able to turn monitoring requirements for network devices, servers, storage, databases, applications, and data center infrastructure into monitoring scenarios.
• Proficiency in creating monitoring onboarding templates, managing polling profiles, creating dashboards / reports, and building alert triggers for operational and support personnel.
• Supporting on-premise Windows and Linux server infrastructures to ensure monitoring applications are in working order at the appropriate code levels and security compliance.
• Building SNMP trap and syslog event handling rules for the purposes of alert creation.
• Coordinating with stakeholders in Network and Product Engineering to deliver monitoring packages.
• Creating SQL and Splunk queries as required to support monitoring and reporting needs.
• System & Admin Support for hybrid Splunk implementation including Heavy Forwarders, Hybrid Search Heads, IT Service Intelligence and Splunk Cloud Workload Management.
• Creating Splunk indexes and onboarding data into Splunk via Universal Forwarder collection, API polling, HTTP Event Collector configuration, and other general data requests.
• Document monitoring as-builds and work instruction artifacts for use by the team and operational personnel.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :

• 10+ years of relevant network systems and monitoring experience, with demonstrated competency in development, execution and implementation of technology.
• Prefer Hands-on experience with Splunk. Administration, Machine Learning, Splunk native language and Splunk’s practical application to solve and improve operational efficiencies, reduce MTTR, and eliminate alarm noise.
• Experience in enterprise monitoring migrations and associated activities is a huge plus.
• Proven technical leader with a demonstrated ability to lead and influence the direction of large scale enterprises.
• Strategic influencer who drives agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Strong understanding of operational problems typically encountered in large scale deployments in telecommunications networks and ability to anticipate for and mitigate the risks of occurrence of such problems.
• Prefer experience in the development of intelligent Network Automation with automation tools in LAN / WAN, data center, cloud and wireless networks.
• Experience with : SolarWinds Network Management Products & SystemNetreo IT Infrastructure Management PlatformSplunk Cloud, IT Service Intelligence, Search Processing Language (SPL) and Enterprise SecurityEvent Management Solutions such as IBM Netcool Omnibus, Netcool ImpactIT Service Management Suites such as BMC Remedy and ServiceNowCMDB Schema and Business Data Rules for association with monitoring and event enrichment functionsNetwork Automation Software / ToolsSynthetic Transaction Monitoring Software such as Thousand EyesApplication Performance Monitoring Software / Tools such as Splunk Observability, Dynatrace, CA APM, AppDynamics Netscout InGeniusNagiosOracle / Tekelec PIC
• Certifications in IT and monitoring technologies are a plus.
• Experience in Product / Solution Ownership highly valued.
• Familiar with software systems based on PHP and Perl, relational database schema design and working knowledge of Linux / Unix / Solaris platforms.
• Familiar with architecture and provision of MPLS network and services.
