JobSummary :
To lead on andmanage a caseload of children and young people 025 with SENDsubject to Statutory Assessment and review advising parents andschools where required and appropriate taking forward to resolutionwhenever possible within current policy and subject to decisionsmade by the Statutory Assessment and Review Panel on behalf of theLocal Authority.
KeyDuties / Accountabilities :
To lead on andmanage a caseload of children and young people ensuring completionof the Statutory Assessment process as detailed in the DfE SENDCode of Practice and related regulations and legislation includingbeing the named officer for the purposes of parental contact duringthe process of Statutory Assessment andreview.
As arepresentative of the Local Authority to provide advice andguidance to schools to ensure that they understand the StatutoryAssessment process the SEND Code of Practice the Children andFamilies Act and their responsibilities to those children and youngpeople on their school roll withSEND.
To provideadvice and guidance to parents and carers to ensure that theyunderstand the Statutory Assessment and Review process includingthe processes applicable to children and young people who alreadyhave Education Health and Care Plans(EHCP).
To work closelywith the SEN Legal Team Managers and Senior Officers in order tomanage tribunal appeals including preparation of Working Documentschecking LA responses to Tribunal supporting bundle preparationsrequesting advice from appropriate Professionals and working withand supporting other Case Officers in the team on the Tribunalprocess ifrequired.
To assist andadvise parents / carers on their approach to their child s schoolregarding their SEND to facilitate the establishment of theappropriate support for their child at the earliestopportunity.
To support thereview and development of structures procedures and working methodsfor which the post holder is responsible to ensure an integratedeffective and efficient approach to the delivery of specialistservices.
EssentialExperienceRequired :
Experience ofworking in schools LA s or other relevant educational setting withsome experience and / or responsibility forSEND.
Demonstrate acommitment to the protection wellbeing and safeguarding of allserviceusers.
Knowledge ofall legislation regarding Special Educational Needs including theChildren and Families Act Education Act andCOP.
EssentialQualificationsRequired :
QualifiedTeacher Status and / or equivalent qualification and / or relevantdegree.
Educationpractitioner Qualified Social Worker or a therapist qualificationincludes but not limited to Educational Psychologist OccupationalTherapist / Physiotherapist / Speech and Language Therapist / educationadvisor education specialist orother.
