The Center for Women and Families is looking for warm, caring, empathetic individuals driven by a desire to help others! The Director of Development will help to move toward our vision of thriving survivors in safe communities.
The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all identities who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency.
We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.
The Director of Development is responsible for developing The Center’s individual fundraising plan for Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
The Director will work with the VP of External Affairs and the Development Manager to develop annual relationship generation initiatives to support The Center’s growth.
In addition, the Director will provide support to develop a planned giving program. The Director will participate in organizing and hosting annual events and soliciting donors for the events.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing the annual fundraising plan for Individual Giving in partnership with the VP of External Affairs.
- Develop long-term growth plan, particularly for major gifts, working closely with VP of External Affairs.
- Create a road map for various initiatives that will contribute to the growth of the individual giving program.
- Work with the VP of External Affairs to develop your own portfolio of donors and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies that will grow annual portfolio revenue.
- Represent The Center and its programs in meetings, phone conversations and at events with individual and prospective donors.
- Create all departmental materials to aid in solicitation of individuals.
- Enter all donor strategies and actions into Raiser’s Edge database system.
- Solicit donors for annual events such as the Celebration of Service and Survival and the Breakfast of Brilliance. Provide other event support, as requested.
- Partner with the Development Manager to produce additional donor events throughout the year.
- Support the VP of External Affairs in developing a planned giving program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree.
- Raiser’s Edge experience is preferred.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets The Center’s automobile insurance requirements.
- Fluency in languages other than English are a plus.
The Center requires the basic round of COVID vaccinations and highly recommends boosters.
