Marcum LLP is seeking a Supervisor to join our growing and well-established national firm in our Merrimack, NH office. This person will be responsible for supervising financial statement and tax return engagements while overseeing engagement staff and senior staff accountants.

Responsible for conducting several client engagements simultaneously, while working under the direction of a partner or manager.

Train interns through seniors. Meet billable hours requirement.

Responsibilities

Assume substantial responsibility for reviewed and compiled financial statement and tax return engagements including planning, executing, and completing assignments within budget.

Gain comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives and utilize that knowledge on engagements assigned.

Develop and maintain client relationships and work with client management and staff to coordinate requests and maintain client relationships.

Ensure engagement manager and partner is updated timely on all aspects of the engagement.

Take full ownership and responsibility for all aspects of the engagements from planning, to report issuance, to closing the binder.

Recognize extended service opportunities for clients

Perform technical research as required

Keep current on professional pronouncements

Provide on-the-job training and provide ongoing performance feedback to subordinates

Cultivate effective relationships with client and staff.

Represent the firm by presenting on areas of expertise at 3rd party events

Maintain required annual CPEs

Qualifications

MBA / BS / MS in Accounting from an accredited college or university (minimum of 150 college credits).

5+ years of relevant experience

Must be a CPA or be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

Advanced knowledge of generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Internal Revenue Code.

Excellent analytical, organizational and problem solving abilities are a must.

Basic technology skills with proficiency in Excel & Word required.

Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to listen effectively.

Work well under pressure and with a team; able to meet deadlines while accurately completing work.

Flexibility and openness to work on a variety of assignments; ability to multi-task.

Ability to learn processes quickly and be able to apply to jobs.

Have a strong desire to maintain customer service approach focused on exceeding expectations in all areas.
