The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado.

The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks a Native American (NAS) Program Manager I who seeks to create low-barrier engagement for Indigenous persons experiencing or at risk of homelessness by providing culturally-humble leadership of NAS' programmatic offerings and supervision of program staff.

Focuses on traditional principles and practices of recovery and healing for NAS clients who may have disabling conditions, and are experiencing the effects of addiction, trauma, and mental illness.

Addresses and attends to the social and cultural needs of NAS clients, while also connecting them to concrete options for housing retention resources and improved health outcomes.

The position oversees the facilitation of White Bison's Medicine Wheel and 12 Step program, and other cultural programming and facilitated groups that address historical and personal trauma, historical trauma, addiction and recovery, and promotes storytelling, traditions, language, and legacy from various Indigenous communities.

NAS Program Manager works collaboratively with other teams within CCH as well as organizations in the Denver Metro area dedicated to serving Indigenous individuals and families.

The position also works as a member of NAS to coordinate and deliver services and educate staff on Indigenous cultural humility and best practices.

The Program Manager also maintains a knowledge of and serves as an internal resource and advocate for greater understanding of Indigenous customs, norms, healing practices, health disparities, intergenerational trauma, and institutionalization.

This position is located at 2100 N. Broadway St., Denver, CO 80205 and reports to the Associate Director of Outreach and Engagement Services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees the facilitation of Talking Circles and seasonal programming that address historical and personal trauma, addiction and recovery, and storytelling, traditions, language, and legacy from various Native American Tribes and Nations.
  • Participates in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of staff in the NAS program.
  • Keeps concise and clear records of activities relating to client services and in compliance with specific grant requirements and programmatic expectations.
  • Plans for and facilitates team meetings.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments and programs at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, to connect participants to case management, payee services, vocational services, and housing opportunities.
  • Works collaboratively with the Stout Street Health Center to ensure ease of access for Talking Circle participants to medical, behavioral health, mental health, and other health care services.
  • Collaborates with other organizations in the Denver Metro area dedicated to serving Native American individuals and families, including the Denver Indian Center, Four Winds, the Denver Indian Family Resource Center, Denver Indian Health and Family Services, and White Bison.
  • Works as a member of NAS to coordinate and deliver services.
  • Ensures supervised staff are appropriately documenting services in EHR (Electronic Health Record), or other appropriate databases,
  • Maintains on-going competency in the use of the EHR which includes :
  • Record all services in a timely and complete fashion in the EHR.
  • Maintain up to date records in EHR on all current clients.
  • Record telephone and other clinical communications as needed in the EHR.
  • Manage tasks and scanning as needed to have a complete and current chart.
  • Must be available by cell phone during all assigned shifts.
  • Returns all emails and voicemails.
  • Attends all pertinent CCH and community meetings.
  • Maintains a work environment that is marked by respect for others; that values inclusiveness and builds workforce diversity, and that fosters cooperation and teamwork.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Summary

Bachelor's degree in human services, social work, psychology, counseling, international relations, or related field preferred.

Experience may be substituted for education.

  • Management and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Significant experience and competence in working with Indigenous persons, families, communities, and Tribes preferred.
