This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, and control systems are designed, installed, tested, and validated to meet performance, quality, and operational readiness requirements.

You will collaborate closely with design teams, contractors, commissioning authorities, operations, and cross‑functional stakeholders to oversee commissioning plans, testing protocols, documentation, and issue resolution. This role requires technical leadership, strong project management capability, and deep fluency in mission‑critical systems and commissioning standards.

Duties:

Commissioning Management & Execution

  • As the owner’s representative, oversee Level 1–5 commissioning reviews and execution, ensuring testing validates performance against specifications.
  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of internal commissioning standards, procedures, SOWs, and NETA standards.
  • Participate in system integration testing to ensure seamless operation across all critical systems.

Project Management & Coordination

  • Support commissioning activities, scopes, and stakeholder communications throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate directly with general contractors, subcontractors, engineers of record, internal stakeholders, commissioning authorities (CxAs), and vendors.
  • Lead the implementation of CoreSite commissioning guidelines and support CxAs in integrating commissioning activities throughout design and construction workflows.
  • Provide directions to commissioning teams and act as the primary escalation point during testing and issue resolution.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Review and standardize commissioning scripts, including templates for critical equipment, to ensure system testing meets industry standards, owner requirements, operational criteria, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Drive quality control measures for testing, inspection documentation, and issue tracking for continuous improvement.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system for tracking and storing commissioning documentation, including test results, reports, and as‑built records.
  • Represent the owner in project commissioning meetings, communicate commissioning progress to internal stakeholders, and maintain Engineering Team alignment and engagement throughout the commissioning lifecycle.
  • Manage commissioning scope definition and CxA procurement while ensuring effective onboarding, documentation management, and reporting for third-party commissioning teams.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in commissioning processes and tools.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Flexibility to travel up to 40%, with the potential for increased travel or in-office presence as business needs evolve.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, control systems, and building automation systems (BMS/EPMS).
  • Experience performing or overseeing Level 3–5 commissioning for critical infrastructure (UPS, generators, switchgear, STS/ATS, HVAC systems, etc.).
  • Proficiency with commissioning and QA/QC software tools (e.g., CxAlloy, BIM360, Facility Grid, Procore).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross‑team coordination skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities including planning, scheduling, and reporting.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Building Services, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data center commissioning, QA/QC, construction management, or mission critical environments
  • Commissioning certification from a recognized industry authority; PMP considered an asset.
  • Experience working with third party CxAs and data center development programs.

Physical Demands:
