The Linux Systems Engineer position entails providing midto highlevel support for a Linuxbased infrastructure andapplications as well as network monitoring and diagnostics.
Thisrole involves occasional afterhours work and nonstandard schedulesto ensure 24 / 7 operational support.
KeyResponsibilities :
- Designing testing and implementing new solutions andservices.
- Evaluating and suggestingimprovements to existing infrastructure andtechnologies.
- Installing configuring testingand maintaining operating systems applications hardware storagevirtualization platforms and system management tools.
- Providing documentation and technical specifications foradvising and consulting on IT infrastructure upgrades.
- Analyzing security scans and audits to addressdeficiencies and propose security enhancements.
- Collaborating with the IS security team to ensure thesecurity of infrastructure systems.
- Managingand monitoring IT infrastructure and applications.
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues documentingproblems and solutions and assessing their impact.
- Performing backup and recovery operations andimplementing data protection and disaster recoveryprocedures.
- Leading support efforts to resolveapplication server and equipment issues with minimal disruption tooperations.
- Serving as a Subject Matter Experton company software and hardware providing documentation forlowertier administrators and technicians.
- Collaborating with vendors and IT personnel to resolveproblems.
- Providing tier 3 resolutions forcomplex issues and occasionally being oncall afterhours.
RequiredSkills :
- 35years of experience in a hightech environment with a focus oninfrastructure management.
- Proficiency with RedHat Satellite andIPA / IDM .
- Strong knowledge of Linux / Unix operating systems andcommandline interfaces.
- Understanding of SAN and NAS storage devices.
- Familiarity with scripting and automationtools.
- Excellent customer service andinterpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of TCP / IP networks and troubleshootingtools.
- Ability to diagnose performance issuesusing standard performance tools and system indicators.
- Proficient in troubleshooting root cause analysis andproblemsolving.
- Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.
- Ability to workindependently and efficiently in resolving client concerns withattention to detail.
