Job description
Sr. Software Systems Engineer

Building the people that build the world.

With platforms in HVAC and Detection and Measurement, SPX Technologies builds innovative solutions that enable a safer, more efficient, sustainable world. Through our RiSE talent development framework, we Reach, Identify, Strengthen, and Engage our employees to support them in their continued development. We're a global company of problem solvers, collaborators, and innovators, and our businesses build solutions that impact the world.

As part of Detection and Measurement, TCI is a global leader in innovative spectrum monitoring and communications intelligence (COMINT) systems. With solutions to ensure the efficient use of frequencies, long distance communications, monitoring and security communications intelligence applications, we improve communications and protect military forces and infrastructure around the world.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Senior Software System Engineer you will actively participate in the development of radio frequency signal acquisition, geolocation and analysis systems used for Signal Monitoring, Communications Intelligence, and Counter-UAS purposes.

This person will apply their strong radio frequency and signal processing background, and software development skills to meeting signal detection, identification, processing, geolocation and analysis challenges facing spectrum regulators, intelligence organizations and defense agencies around the globe.

Specifically, this person will develop software to implement architectures using TCI's existing technical base along with new development work that will satisfy both customer specific and market generic requirements. Duties will include providing technical assistance to other engineering departments, customers and to the marketing and sales department.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  1. Develop a deep understanding of TCI's COMINT/EW and Counter-UAS products, underlying technology and implementation, and become a key contributor to architecting and implementing new products and product improvements.
  2. Modify existing software and develop new software to implement improvements or add new features to our systems.
  3. Specify, test and qualify new and replacement system hardware components, including computers and drives.
  4. Perform QA testing and analysis of new hardware and software performance up to the system level. Develop automated QA test software and systems.
  5. Create and modify software installation programs to support product updates and new products.
  6. Develop and modify product documentation as needed.
  7. Support other engineering groups by becoming a "go to" expert on the functionality and performance of our products. Foster a broader understanding of our techniques and capabilities among other engineers.
  8. Provide technical support to our product support group and direct to end users to deploy new products, solve issues found in the field, and to gather user input on potential product improvements.
  9. Support Sales and Marketing activities by writing/reviewing marketing literature, proposals, and participating in customer meetings, presentations, and demonstrations.
  10. Stay current with new technology and techniques that apply to our product space as well as competitor's capabilities.
