Job description

Build Systems That Power Critical Operations

From vessels at sea to industrial plants and energy sites, reliable power and control systems matter. In this role, you’ll fabricate, wire, and validate high-consequence equipment—switchboards, MCCs, drive cabinets, automation panels, and operator consoles—combining electrical expertise with practical mechanical fabrication in a fast-moving build environment.

Imagine Your First 90 Days

  • Weeks 1–3: Get oriented to our drawings, schematics, and layouts. Begin wiring and dressing harnesses to marine and industrial standards while learning our quality checkpoints.
  • Weeks 4–6: Take on full cabinet stand-ups, enclosure modifications, and component mounting. Start bending and fitting bus bar to spec.
  • Weeks 7–9: Lead point-to-point verification, continuity checks, and functional testing. Document builds, troubleshoot issues collaboratively with engineering, and suggest shop improvements.
  • Equipment You’ll Bring to Life

    • Low- and medium-voltage switchboards and power distribution equipment
    • Motor control centers (MCCs) and variable-speed drive cabinets
    • Control panels and automation assemblies
    • Operator consoles and electrical enclosures
    • Future electrical products as designs and customer needs evolve

    Core Impact Areas

    • From print to product: Build to engineering drawings, schematics, and layouts with top-tier workmanship.
    • Electrical excellence: Terminate, route, label, and dress wiring to strict industrial, marine, and oil & gas practices.
    • Mechanical craftsmanship: Stand up cabinets, modify enclosures, and mount components accurately.
    • Shop fabrication: Drill, tap, cut, and adapt panels/enclosures; fit mechanical hardware cleanly.
    • Bus bar work: Bend, fit, and install conductive or structural components to design.
    • Tool stewardship: Operate hand tools, power tools, and light fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
    • Quality proof: Validate builds through point-to-point checks, continuity testing, and functional verification.
    • Problem-solving: Identify build issues and coordinate fixes with engineering and operations.
    • Traceability: Maintain accurate build records and contribute to as-built documentation.
    • Kaizen mindset: Support continuous improvement of build methods and shop practices.
    • Standards-first: Uphold safety, quality, and housekeeping expectations.
    • Field-ready: Provide technical support during installation, testing, or commissioning activities when required.

What Sets You Up for Success

    • Electrical trade competence with power and control wiring
    • Mechanical and fabrication capability including drilling, tapping, and enclosure modification
    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and light fabrication equipment
    • Experience bending and installing bus bar or similar conductors
    • Adaptability in a light-manufacturing environment
    • Strong print-reading and troubleshooting ability
    • Professional judgment and team collaboration

    Your Background

There is no single path into this role. Successful candidates typically bring a combination of electrical trade experience, electrical equipment or panel build experience, apprenticeship or trade school training, military experience, or equivalent hands-on background.

Experience with press brakes, welding, or similar fabrication processes is considered a plus.

Where You’ll Do Your Best Work

    • Primarily shop-based electrical and mechanical work
    • Occasional support at shipyards or customer sites
    • Physically active role involving large enclosures and tight spaces

    CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT

Must be a U.S. citizen due to Department of Defense contract requirements.

    Advance Your Career

This role serves as the foundation for senior technical and field service roles. Advancement is based on demonstrated skill, reliability, and ability to take on increased responsibility.
