Job Title: Quality EngineerJob DescriptionThe Quality Engineer implements and improves processes, systems, and equipment to ensure the quality, reliability, and safety of products and services. This role provides quality system analysis to validate the integrity of quality decisions, analyzes contractual and product requirements, and tests products, processes, equipment, and measurement systems. The Quality Engineer supports configuration management, participates in design and product reviews, and drives corrective actions to reduce or eliminate nonconformities. Using statistical methodologies and structured problem-solving tools, this position ensures that safety, reliability, and process capability targets are achieved, maintained, and continuously improved over time.
Responsibilities
- Implement and refine processes, systems, and equipment that ensure product and service quality, reliability, and system safety.
- Provide quality system analysis to validate the integrity of quality decisions affecting products and services.
- Analyze contractual requirements, product definitions, and specifications to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Test products, processes, equipment, and measurement systems to verify conformance to specifications and requirements.
- Ensure that processes support effective configuration management across products and documentation.
- Participate in design and product reviews to confirm producibility, inspectability, reliability, safety, and Quality System integrity.
- Support business process management objectives by aligning quality activities with organizational goals.
- Lead or support Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests, including root cause and effectiveness verification.
- Track corrective actions to closure and maintain accurate records of actions taken and results achieved.
- Monitor trends in nonconformities and quality data to prevent recurrence and drive continuous improvement.
- Investigate nonconforming parts, including dimensions, materials, processes, and damage, to determine cause and impact.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and models to verify that quality requirements are clearly defined and achievable.
- Identify root causes of issues using methods such as 5-Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), or RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action).
- Assess the impact of nonconformities on fit, form, function, safety, and stress to support disposition and risk assessment.
- Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to reduce or eliminate nonconformities to design specifications.
- Interface with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.
- Use statistical methodologies to ensure that specified levels of safety, reliability, and process capability are achieved and improved.
- Rewrite and reformat procedures to align with quality system requirements and improve clarity and usability.
- Contribute to the integration and growth of Quality department processes and support the implementation of new processes to resolve outstanding issues and nonconformities.
Essential Skills- Proven experience in quality engineering within a technical or aerospace environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices.
- Experience with AS9100 or similar quality management systems and requirements.
- Ability to analyze contractual, product definition, and specification requirements for quality implications.
- Hands-on experience investigating nonconforming parts, including dimensions, materials, processes, and damage.
- Proficiency in root cause analysis using methods such as 5-Why, Fishbone, or RCCA.
- Demonstrated ability to lead or support Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests.
- Capability to track corrective actions to closure and monitor trends to prevent recurrence.
- Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, and models for quality and compliance.
- Strong technical writing skills, including rewriting and reformatting procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word for creating and maintaining quality documentation.
- Ability to apply statistical methodologies to evaluate and improve safety, reliability, and process capability.
- Strong communication skills for interfacing with internal teams, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Attention to detail and a systematic approach to problem solving and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Knowledge of AS9100 Quality System Requirements is preferred.
- Background in aerospace quality systems and configuration management is highly beneficial.
- Experience working within a formal Quality Management System environment.
- Familiarity with business process management concepts as they relate to quality.
- Ability to contribute to the integration and growth of quality department processes over a defined project period.
- Comfort working with cross-functional engineering and operations teams.
Work EnvironmentThis is a contract role focused on integrating and strengthening Quality department processes and implementing new processes to resolve outstanding issues and nonconformities. The position operates in an engineering office setting, typically Monday through Friday from 7:00 . to 4:00 . Work involves close collaboration with engineering, operations, suppliers, and other stakeholders, with frequent use of Microsoft Word and other standard office and quality tools in a professional, process-driven environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
