Role Overview
The Senior Application Development Lead supports enterprise software development initiatives and complex financial business applications within a large-scale IT environment. This role serves as a technical lead, developer, and subject matter expert responsible for application design, development, process improvement, and systems analysis. The position works closely with business and technical teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions are delivered in support of financial and operational business processes.


Key Responsibilities
Application Development & Technical Leadership
  • Serve as a lead developer and subject matter expert for applications supporting complex financial business processes
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise software solutions
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with organizational standards
  • Support software development efforts across the full application lifecycle
Systems Analysis & Business Process Improvement
  • Analyze existing systems and business processes to identify opportunities for improvement and modernization
  • Assist with business process redesign and re-engineering initiatives
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions and application enhancements
  • Support business transformation efforts affecting financial systems and related processes
Quality Assurance & Delivery Management
  • Provide oversight and guidance to quality assurance teams throughout development and deployment cycles
  • Ensure code quality and adherence to development standards from development through production release
  • Support testing, validation, and deployment activities across multiple environments
  • Promote best practices for quality assurance and software delivery
Problem Resolution & Operational Support
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and system issues
  • Analyze root causes and implement sustainable solutions
  • Support production systems and ensure application reliability and performance
  • Work collaboratively with technical teams to resolve critical incidents and issues
Architecture, Standards & Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to application roadmaps, development standards, and technical methodologies
  • Collaborate with architects and development teams to establish best practices
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and development trends for potential adoption
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across development and support processes
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including business users, analysts, architects, developers, and QA teams
  • Communicate project status, risks, and technical recommendations to stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor development team members when appropriate
  • Ensure successful delivery of project objectives through effective collaboration
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • 7 or more years of experience as a lead developer, development lead, or development manager
  • 5 or more years of experience working with relational databases including Azure SQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent platforms
  • Strong SQL development and database design experience
  • Experience developing and maintaining systems that support complex financial business processes
  • Experience conducting systems analysis and translating business requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience leading development efforts within large cross-functional projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET technologies
  • Experience with Entity Framework, nHibernate, or other ORM frameworks
  • Experience supporting enterprise financial systems
  • Experience working within government or large enterprise IT environments
  • Experience supporting business transformation or modernization initiatives
