General Information Position Number POST40 Working Title Postdoctoral Fellow; Biological Sciences Plant Molecular Genetics Division Academic Affairs Department Col Liberal Arts & Science (Col) Work Unit Biological Sciences (DEACTIVATED) Work Location Biological Sciences Vacancy Open To All Candidates Position Designation Post Doc Employment Type Temporary - Part-time Hours per week 40 Work Schedule Monday-Friday Pay Rate 48,000.00 Minimum Experience / Education The Postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last eight years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.) Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training / Education : The Plant Ecological Genomics Lab at University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in plant molecular genetics and / or genome biology. The primary responsibility of the postdoc will be to identify alleles resistant to soybean cyst nematode in wild soybeans, using genomic and genetic approaches. Responsibilities Specific responsibilities include soybean cyst nematode resistance screening, association analyses, gene cloning, plasmid design, soybean hairy root transformation, and genome editing. The candidate is required to analyze and interpret data, prepare manuscripts, and supervise students and other members on the team. The successful applicant will be committed to rigorous application of the scientific methods for genetic discoveries and have strong communication skills (written and oral). This position is supported by NSF for multiple years.
Required Job Qualifications
- PhD in Plant Biology, Genetics, or related field
