Job description

Cancer Education Program Coordinator

A Brief Overview

Responsible to develop, implement, facilitate, lead and promote community educational offerings and support programs related to cancer prevention, risk reduction, early detection, and treatment.

What You Will Do

  • Participates in setting the vision for the cancer community education programs and offerings.
  • Develops short and long term strategies to attain the vision set by the cancer program.
  • Participates on cancer committee and ensures Commission on Cancer prevention and screening standards are met.
  • Leads and facilitates public speaking engagements.
  • Facilitates effective meetings, work groups, and public forums.
  • Promotes the cancer program in concert with business development. Represents the Avera Cancer Institute at the local, state, and national level.
  • Cultivates positive relationships with customers and community organizations.
  • Develops and reports the budget for community outreach and education.
  • Develops and updates educational programs and materials.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the community education program.

Essential Qualifications

  • The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. These requirements and those listed above are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Psychology, Political Science or related field

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Master's in Public Health
  • 1-3 years public health experience
  • 1-3 years oncology experience
